Shockwave Therapy
A leading non-surgical treatment for chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Shockwaves applied from outside the body increase blood flow and treat inflammation, helping tendons, surrounding tissue and bone heal quickly. Its clinical effectiveness and safety are recognized by the U.S. FDA and in Korea.
Radial shockwave
Energy spreads from the skin surface; used for muscle pain.
Focused shockwave
Energy is concentrated deep at the lesion for targeted treatment.
Chemical change
Shockwaves change the chemical makeup of the lesion or trigger new substances that reduce pain.
New blood vessels
More blood supply to the lesion reduces inflammation and pain.
Pain modulation
Stimulating nerve fibers raises the pain threshold through the gate-control effect.
Questions patients ask
How is it done?
We choose the treatment area, place the device on it and adjust the depth and range. Shockwaves are applied for 5 to 15 minutes, usually once a week for 4 to 6 weeks.
Will I have side effects?
You may feel some discomfort depending on how painful the area already is, but sessions are short and most patients tolerate them well. Intensity can be adjusted during treatment.
Will it hurt afterward?
Most patients find the pain goes away. Some soreness 2 to 4 hours later is temporary.
AftercareFor about 48 hours afterward, avoid physical activity that uses the treated area.
